Well, for those who watch Apple stock on the NYSE, this morning’s the time to pay attention. That’s because the company’s called one if its infamous press conferences to make some big announcements.

Rumors about what will be said have been swirling for weeks. But the smart money’s on:

  • An iPod Nano 4G with an iPhone-like screen (one where video adjusts to a landscape view when you turn the iPod to the side for some apps)
  • A new version of iTunes, and
  • Price drops for the iPod.

There’s also some rumbling about Mac OS X, updates.

But the real drama of today’s conference will be whether or not Apple guru and chief Steve Jobs will show. Jobs hasn’t been seen in public since June, and rumors he’s in bad health have proliferated.

Apple declines to discuss Jobs’ health, but most tech analysts believe that if he shows today and looks good, the impact on Apple shares will be positive.

The event’s at 10 a.m. today. We’ll let you know tomorrow how it went. Check back.

Mind posting about this in more detail in the future? I found it a bit hard to understand.
