IT spends a lot of its time trying to balance costs and the needs of end users. If you’ve got folks who spend a lot of time at conferences and events, you might be considering featherweight, low-cost netbooks for them to use.
Among their advantages: netbooks weigh only about 2-3 pounds, cost only $300-$500, and they have pretty decent battery life.
The downside: Tiny screens that only accommodate one window at a time, minimal performance capability and no optical disk drive.
Reviewers of these system say they’re only suitable for secondary use with a desktop as a main system.
