World Cup year is a very big deal around the world, and with the global popularity of the iPhone, it’s only natural that someone would look to provide video of the games on the device.
And that someone will be the world’s largest broadcasting organization, the British BBC.
Along with letting users to watch live matches when they are being broadcast on the BBC, the free app — due out this month — will also offer the chance to view clips on every goal score during the tournament on-demand.
Dubbed the BBC Sport App, the software will be updated in the future to allow fans to follow other sports as well.
But with the worldwide hysteria over soccer — or “football” as folks outside the United States call it — the mobile availability of World Cup games could be a huge driver for iPhone adoption. Like it really needed one, right?

Spain 1 Germany 0 – I personally was behind the germans, but in all honesty spain had a superior game. If we can see just one more amazing performance from spain, if they can bamboozle Holland in the same manner on Sunday we will have new world champions!
