Gentlemen: Get that cell phone out of your pants pocket when you make a call, unless you’re not concerned about the possible impact it could have on your sperm.
That’s the latest word from researchers at the Center for Reproductive Medicine of the renowned Cleveland Clinic who’ve discovered that radio-frequency energy from mobile phones decrease sperm quality.
In a study of 361 men, the greatest impact was on those who used their phones for more than four hours a day.
Men making a lot of hands-free calls from a mobile phone stored in a pants pocket could damage their reproductive chances.
The researchers said electromagnetic waves from mobile phones could exert “deleterious effects” on sperm through thermal or nonthermal effects or a combination of both. “The exact mechanism is still unknown, and is one of the critical questions to be answered.”
Stay tuned.
