For sale on Craigslist: Redheaded talk show host

From massages to real estate, the assortment of available items on Craiglist is mind-boggling. But the range of merchandise got even wider recently when former Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien added himself to the online classifieds.
After being dumped by NBC when his ratings didn’t meet the network’s needs, O’Brien first attempted to sell the show itself via the site’s Los Angeles section.
That listing, “For Sale Barely Used Late Night Talk Show — Make Me an Offer!!!!” has been taken down now, but once featured a description that included the set’s measurements (100 feet by 32 feet, “plenty of room for a futon”) and time slot (”11:35, but can be easily moved”).
The ad offered the band with the caveat it could be sold separately and cautioned that an upcoming Barry Manilow booking had to be honored.
O’Brien ad stated he was looking for the “best offer,” but would be willing to consider a trade for Coldplay tickets.
While that ad’s now gone from the listings, there is one advertising O’Brien himself up for sale.
The text:

What an idiotic and child like thing to do, no wonder NBC is getting rid of Conan!!!

You are OK and better than Letterman, but you are no Jay Leno. The network made a mistake in replacing him with you. You shouldn’t just pout about it. You will never have to work again with your settlement. It is probably the best thing that ever happened to you.

Al, Conan was just being funny with the Craiglist ads…….

Al obviously doesn’t get Conan’s humor. And that alleged genius Zucker was the idiot here. If you knew anything about what is really going on…it has far more to do with Leno’s lousy ratings and Zucker’s unfathomable belief that the affiliates would be satisfied with terrible ratings for any length of time. NBC (network) talked about how they could still make a profit with lower ratings because their overhead was going to be so much lower…but that’s meaningless to the affiliates. As for Conan’s rating’s…if you go back and look at Leno’s history, it wasn’t until the O.J. trial when Leno took the lead from Letterman…about a year after Leno took over – which was what…almost TWO YEARS after Leno took over from Carson? Point is, it was foolhardy for NBC to think they could keep both O’Brien & Leno. They wanted to eat their cake and have it too.
