New attempts on iPhone’s life

With each new smartphone that enters the market, there’s an inevitable prediction: This latest and greatest will become the iPhone killer. So far, no deaths have been reported, but last week Motorola’s Droid was unveiled.
Anybody plan to stand in line for one?
We haven’t heard of planned runs on Verizon stores for the newest contender, but maybe the Droid fans are just a lot quieter than their iPhone counterparts.
One online story that caught our eye was the Billshrink comparison shopping guide that demonstrates very little difference between the total cost of ownership of the Apple iPhone and Motorola’s new unit. To take a look at their numbers, visit here.

Your report is innacurate. The phone does not debut until this Friday (Nov 6th, 2009). That is unless you consider the not-very-well-advertised presale that Best Buy was doing as the opening of sales. Most Verizon stores aren’t even allowed to show the phone to users until this Friday, which is when people will be picking up their presale phones from Best Buy.
