One million iPhones and counting

Yes, there was hype. And yes, there were long lines and hysteria on July 11, when Apple started selling its uber-cool, next-generation iPhone.
But did those consumers actually bite? It looks like they did.
By Sunday, July 13, Apple had sold it’s one millionth iPhone G unit. Even more impressive, the company’s new “App Store” clocked download numbers at 10 million. Sure, some of those apps were free iPhone software.
But many were paid software releases for the phone that are being hailed by industry watchers as the key to Apple’s ability to dominate the smartphone market.
Already popular with gadget freaks and the hipster wanna-be’s, the iPhone has lacked a number of features that would make it a useful tool for businesspeople — push service and custom applications.
The new phone, and new software for the original iPhone, have fixed many of these limitations.
