Big operations generally have big budgets for dealing with big problems. But what’s a SMB to do in the face of rising cybercrime and Internet theft?
The government wants to help. No, seriously, it does.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is reaching out to small and medium size businesses with its OnGuardOnline program, an effort that began as a partnership with cybersecurity experts, online marketers, consumer advocates and federal officials in 2005.
The Web site offers tips, articles, videos, interactive activities, games and free downloads that will help you protect your organization from Internet fraud, secure computers and protect personal information.
OnGuardOnline offers advice on such topics as:
- How to recognize Internet scams
- How to shop and conduct business securely online
- How to avoid hackers and viruses
- How to deal with spam, spyware, and phishing.
